After six years of silence, Dutch death metal veterans ANTROPOMORPHIA are back with their most brutal and darkest album to date – “Devoid of Light”.
Following the highly acclaimed Merciless Savagery (2019), this new full-length is the result of two and a half years of relentless work, during which the band meticulously crafted a sonic landscape filled with rage, despair, and nihilism.
Although the recording process took longer than originally planned, ANTROPOMORPHIA never lost sight of their vision – to merge fanatical aggression, a dark atmosphere, and devastating lyricism into an all-encompassing force.
Formed in the early ’90s from the rotten stench of death in Tilburg, the band quickly made an impact on the extreme metal scene. Their first demo, Bowel Mutilation (1992), secured them a record deal, leading to the release of the now cult classic EP Necromantic Love Songs (1993). Despite occasional breaks, their unwavering commitment to death metal resulted in a string of powerful releases – from their debut Pure (1998) to Evangelivm Nekromantia (2012), Rites ov Perversion (2014), Sermon ov Wrath (2017), and Merciless Savagery (2019).
With an ever-expanding sound that has embraced blackened elements into their musical DNA, ANTROPOMORPHIA have earned their place on some of the most prominent festival stages, including Brutal Assault, In Flammen Open Air, Summer Breeze, Motocultor, Netherlands Deathfest, Roadburn Festival, and Eindhoven Metal Meeting.
Now, with Devoid of Light, ANTROPOMORPHIA are here to prove they are still hungry to push the boundaries—both of their own craft and the death metal scene itself. Turn the volume all the way up and let this album rip!
