The Swiss brutal death metal band CONSUMED BY VULTURES is thrilled to announce the re-release of their album “Pseudobiblion” and the launch of their new single “Scissione,” set for September 2024.
Following the release of “Pseudobiblion,” the band decided to revisit and re-record two tracks from their 2014 demo, “Sky Burial” and “Natural Selection.” These songs, staples in their live performances, have been re-imagined to mark the band’s artistic journey. They plan to release seven singles, starting with “Scissione” in September 2024, with new singles dropping every 3-4 months thereafter.
In anticipation of these new releases, CONSUMED BY VULTURES will be presenting a special setlist that includes many tracks from “Pseudobiblion,” performed live for the first time. These concerts aim to offer fans an immersive experience with the new sounds and deep themes of the album. The band is eager to share these new tracks live, promising unforgettable and engaging performances.
The band is composed of seven members: six musicians and Gabriele Bavera, who takes on the roles of producer, graphic designer, technician, and director. Each member has created their own single, developed from personal ideas and directions. The overarching theme of these singles is an intimate reflection on significant personal experiences that have contributed to each member’s growth, artistically translated into music and metaphors to create an emotional journey for the listener.
The first single, “Scissione,” created by guitarist Timoteo Costantini, delves into inner conflict and personal struggle against uncertainties and insecurities, expressing feelings of emptiness and alienation.
With “Pseudobiblion,” CONSUMED BY VULTURES continues their conceptual and musical exploration begun with their previous album “In Eterno.” “Pseudobiblion” is an intricate and ambitious work inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy. It tells the story of a higher entity, which, during one of its infinite life cycles, decides to write a book—a “pseudobiblion”—to convey its vision and experiences.
The term “Pseudobiblion” is derived from the Greek words ψευδής/ψευδές (false) and βιβλίον (book), referring to an imaginary book cited as true in literature. This album builds on the concept introduced in “In Eterno,” where an entity writes a book during its life cycles, drawing inspiration from Dante’s Divine Comedy. The album is divided into three sections, each exploring themes of dependency/selfishness, environment/ecology, and religion/castes.
The album features 10 cantos, structured as follows:
Cantica I: Descent into the Abyss (Inferno)
Cantica II: Purification (Purgatorio)
Cantica III: Lesson (Paradiso)
Listeners can experience each theme in its natural order or follow a specific sequence to explore the entire theme from start to finish.
