Portland-based death metal band DECREPISY has unveiled “Severed Ephemerality,” the first single from their upcoming album Deific Mourning, set for release on March 28, 2025, via Carbonized Records.
The album is a harrowing exploration of grief, sickness, and existential dread, with Kyle House (Acephalix, Negative Prayer) channeling his personal battles with vaccine damage and severe health issues into the music.
Written in a state of horror and uncertainty, Deific Mourning leans heavier on doom than its predecessor, Emetic Communion, while goth-industrial influences seep into its decayed sonic structure. House enlisted longtime friend Daniel Butler (Vastum, Acephalix) to craft the album’s lyrics and deliver guttural Death Grunts, intensifying the album’s oppressive atmosphere.
“Corpseless” captures the final moments of life, spiraling into nihilistic reflection and the insignificance of existence when faced with the unknown. Decibel Magazine describes the track as a relentless force, pushing listeners into the depths of mortality with suffocating riffs and haunting vocal delivery.
Recorded and produced with Charles Koryn and Greg Wilkinson, Deific Mourning will be available in multiple formats, with preorders through Carbonized Records and Bandcamp. DECREPISY will also embark on a March 2025 run of live performances in Portland, Tacoma, and Seattle, bringing their devastating brand of death metal to the stage once again.
