California’s MEPHITIC CORPSE have officially dropped their long-awaited debut full-length, “Sickness Attracts Sickness”, delivering a ferocious slab of vomit-drenched grindcore and brutal death metal.
Released through Extremely Rotten Productions, Headsplit Records, and 625 Thrash, the album cements the band’s position as one of the heaviest new forces in extreme music.
Since forming in San Luis Obispo in 2018, MEPHITIC CORPSE have spread their putrid sound across the underground, gaining recognition with their “Immense Thickening Vomit” demo, which saw multiple pressings across Europe, the US, and Australia. The band’s sound is a blistering fusion of early grindcore and brutal death metal, channeling the raw, suffocating intensity of IMMORTAL FATE, GUTTED PULP, and Mexican DISGORGE.
“Sickness Attracts Sickness” was recorded and mixed by Ethan Camp at Ethan’s Work between August and September 2023, with mastering handled by Dan Lowndes at Sound Resonance Studio. The album features guest vocals from David Mikkelsen (UNDERGANG, SEQUESTRUM. on the track “Heart in Tinfoil”, adding another layer of sickness to the record’s already putrid atmosphere. The cover art was crafted by the band’s own Matt Rose, perfectly capturing the grotesque essence of their sound.
MEPHITIC CORPSE have already made their mark on the underground, having played across the US, Canada, and Europe, including both editions of Unearthed Morbidity Festival in Copenhagen. They are set to bring “Sickness Attracts Sickness” to the stage with two US tours and an appearance at Maryland Deathfest in early 2025.
The album is available now on vinyl, CD, and cassette, with Extremely Rotten Productions handling European distribution, while Headsplit Records and 625 Thrash release it in the US. Prepare for an onslaught of repugnant filth – MEPHITIC CORPSE have arrived!
