On January 3, 2025, MUTAGENIC HOST will unleash their highly anticipated debut album, “The Diseased Machine,” marking a major milestone in the New Wave of British Death Metal.
The album will be co-released internationally by GURGLING GORE (vinyl, cassette), DRY COUGH RECORDS (vinyl, cassette), and MEMENTO MORI (CD). The CD version will follow shortly after on January 20, 2025.
MUTAGENIC HOST, a five-piece band from London, have quickly risen as a prominent force in the death metal scene, standing alongside names like COFFIN MULCH, CELESTIAL SANCTUARY, and VACUOUS. Comprised of members from both the UK and the US, the band’s collective background in hardcore, black metal, and death metal creates a unique blend of influences. Their sound fuses ’90s Floridian death metal heaviness with hardcore sensibilities and groove, delivering a style that is as crushing as it is thought-provoking.
“The Diseased Machine” explores a dystopian world teetering on the brink of collapse, shaped by oppressive global powers and the looming shadow of AI. MUTAGENIC HOST reject traditional death metal themes, instead addressing the complacency, apathy, and technological threats of modern times. The album serves as an allegory for humanity’s industrialized self-destruction, where AI is weaponized to monitor, suppress, and ultimately eradicate life.
Following their brutal “Genotoxic Demo” in 2023, MUTAGENIC HOST spent a year performing alongside legends like INCANTATION, FULCI, and UNDEATH, while refining their sound and vision. “The Diseased Machine” consolidates their crushing grooves, devastating heaviness, and intricate songwriting into ten tracks of relentless intensity. The album’s clean yet punishing production amplifies their dynamic shifts between earth-shaking downtempo sections and blistering speed, earning them a reputation as masters of “chug and slug.”
