The highly acclaimed new album from Copenhagen’s PHRENELITH is now streaming in full as it officially sees the light of day.
Set for release today, February 7, 2025, through Dark Descent Records and Me Saco Un Ojo Records, “Ashen Womb” is available on CD, vinyl, cassette, and digital formats. This third full-length from PHRENELITH delivers nine funeral marches drenched in bleak, blackened atmospheres, pulling the listener into an impending apocalypse.
The album unfolds like a slow-moving disaster, beginning with a droning dirge before erupting into an apocalyptic explosion of death metal chaos. Guitars writhe with anxious tremolos and mournful melodies, drums crash down with seismic force, and interludes of droning psychedelia and ambient noise plunge the listener deeper into an abyss of despair. Tracks like “Nebulae” and the title track revel in sinister repetition, weaving layers of serpentine guitars into a suffocating, desolate harmony.
“Ashen Womb” is the sound of the apocalypse, but whether it serves as a warning or a grim celebration remains uncertain. With this album, PHRENELITH have crafted their most menacing and immersive work yet – an oppressive monument to impending doom and death metal devastation.
