PUTRED Reveals Their Second Album, “Megalit al Putrefacției”

PUTRED

Romanian death metal band PUTRED is gearing up for the international release of their highly anticipated second album, “Megalit al Putrefacției”, set to drop on January 20th via Memento Mori.

Hailing from Transylvania, PUTRED was formed in June 2020 by Uriel on guitars (MORBICUS, VORUS, REVELER) and Filip on vocals/bass (NECROTUM, VORUS, DEMOTED). Shortly after the first two tracks, “Necroza” and “Devorat de Viermi,” were written, Dante (SLAUGHTER CEREMONY, ex-IN OBSCURITY REVEALED, ex-INFESTED) joined the band on drums. These tracks were self-released as a promo/demo tape in July 2020. In late 2021, Corina (ex-DEIMOS, VORUS, REVELER) joined as the bassist, allowing Filip to focus solely on vocals. In October 2022, Doru (ex-NECROVILE, VORUS, MALPRAXIS) replaced Dante on drums, and the band began playing live across Romania. Following several splits and more demos, PUTRED released their debut album, “Repulsie Post-Mortem”, in early 2023.

If their raw debut laid a filthy foundation, “Megalit al Putrefacției” takes things to a new level, showcasing PUTRED’s mastery of mid-paced, crushing death metal. With a sound drenched in decay, they deliver heaviness not through speed but through sinister riffing, atmospheric leads, and unsettling dual-layered vocals. Corina’s haunting bass lines add further depth to their ominous aura. Sonic influences include slow-burning MORTICIAN, CIANIDE’s most destructive moments, early NECROPHAGIA, and classics like BOLT THROWER, ASPHYX, and GRAVE. PUTRED’s lyrics, growled in their native tongue, weave short, horror-filled tales of death, the occult, and the afterlife, with their cover of AUTOPSY’s “Critical Madness” serving as a fitting conclusion.

With stunning cover artwork by Jan Pysander Whitney, “Megalit al Putrefacției” is a must-hear for fans of slow, crushing, and uncompromising death metal.
