Coming from the Stockholm’s underground, PUTRIFIED were here with us since 2010 with their intense and raw sound.
Their debut full-length album, “Death Darkness Decay,” naturally follows the release of two demos and two EPs. The album cover itself is a visual feast, perfectly capturing the haunting and morbid themes that run through the music and lyrics.
It’s not just another Swedish Death Metal album, “Death Darkness Decay”. The Swedish Death Metal influence is evident and gives the album a strong foundation, of course. But PUTRIFIED goes above and beyond the norm, incorporating features that will astound and captivate listeners. The album begins with a number of intros that harken back to grindcore sections, dark, gothic overtones of doom metal, and the spooky, atmospheric elements of black metal.
With a length of only 33 minutes, PUTRIFIED will assault every sense in your body. The record, which clearly draws inspiration from hardcore too, skillfully blends the fast-paced intensity of blast beats and the raw violence of grindcore with the ambiance of doom metal. This superb fusion of genres is only one example of the band’s adaptability.
For some, the mixture of this genres may seem overwhelming. But with each listen, its brilliance becomes more apparent. “Death Darkness Decay” stands as a compelling demonstration of what you can do when you combine different extreme sounds into one. PUTRIFIED has crafted an album that is both innovative but true to its roots, making it a must-listen for fans of death and black metal. We will be keeping eye on this band, for sure.
