Cleveland death metal veterans SHED THE SKIN are set to unleash their highly anticipated fifth album, “The Carnage Cast Shadows”, continuing their reign of relentless and uncompromising satanic death metal.
Formed as a tribute to fallen BLOOD OF CHRIST guitarist Tom Rojack, SHED THE SKIN has evolved into a force of its own, bringing together members from bands such as INCANTATION, RINGWORM, CRUCIFIED MORTALS, SOULLESS, SURGIKILL, and THE VLADIMIRS. Across four albums, the band has perfected a balance between old-school death metal brutality and a modern, razor-sharp execution, never straying from their crushing intensity.
With “The Carnage Cast Shadows”, the band further refines their signature formula. Recorded once again with Noah Buchanan (NUNSLAUGHTER, MIDNIGHT, KURNUGIA) at Mercinary Studios, this new chapter sees SHED THE SKIN incorporating a darker melodic edge, without sacrificing an ounce of their trademark aggression. The riffs are as sharp as ever, weaving between buzzsawing tremolos, stomping D-beats, and piercing solos, while Kyle Severn’s drumming delivers a balance of speed, groove, and sheer devastation.
Lyrical concepts, once again provided by INCANTATION’s Chuck Sherwood, delve deep into demonic folklore, nightmare creatures, and burial rites from various cultures, enhancing the album’s ominous and sinister atmosphere.
