UK death metal force VACUOUS are set to make their Relapse Records debut with their new album, “In His Blood”.
A relentless mix of blistering speed, eerie atmospherics, and jagged riffing, this release carves out a sound that refuses to fit into any predefined mold. “We’ve talked about having different influences, and we felt like we had to push them even further,” says guitarist Michael Brodsky. “Back in the early days of death metal, bands like AUTOPSY, OBITUARY, and INCANTATION all sounded completely different from each other—they were just pushing their influences to the extreme. I think we’re doing the same thing, just from the perspective of people who grew up in the 2000s.”
From the furious, rapid-fire intensity of the title track, to the haunting atmosphere of “Hunger”, and the almost cinematic rumble of “Contraband”, In His Blood redefines what modern death metal can sound like.
The album drops soon via Relapse Records.
