WARFUCK – Fail.Repeat

warfuck, fail.repeat

The French grindcore duo WARFUCK is back with their latest release, a new EP titled “Fail.Repeat.”

With production that’s slightly improved over last year’s “Diptyque,” “Fail.Repeat” picks up right where the previous album left off. The duo makes a strong effort to push the boundaries of speed and brutality, with songs that clock in at under two minutes. This seven-minute grindcore attack will leave every true fan of the band – and even those who haven’t heard WARFUCK before—speechless.

The EP kicks off with “Double Standards,” an uncompromising opener that dives straight into chaos. The track lasts just over a minute and delivers a burst of rapid-fire drums, punctuated with sharp guitar riffs and biting vocals. It’s a perfect introduction to what WARFUCK does best: short, explosive bursts of aggression that always leave us wanting more.

Next up are “By the Howling Breeze” and “Memories Drowned,” which maintain the intensity at maximum levels. The elements that define WARFUCK’s sound are in full force here, blending fast rhythms with powerful breakdowns.

The production contributes to the overall impact, making “Memories Drowned” perhaps the best track on the EP – at least to my personal taste, of course.

“Lies Buried Deep” is possibly the most dynamic track on the EP, offering a mix of blistering speed and brief moments of slower, more deliberate rhythm, accompanied by growl vocals. The song feels like a descent into madness with its frantic tempo and relentless energy. WARFUCK masterfully maintains a sense of unpredictability, coupled with tight execution, while delivering powerful grindcore.

Closing out the EP is “In a World of Noise…”, which is also the longest track, at just under two minutes. It’s a fitting finale, with its explosive playing speed and furious vocal parts, serving as the culmination of the EP’s energy, leaving us lamenting that the whole thing only lasts seven minutes.

For this EP, the production was handled by William Blackmon from Sweden’s The Overlook studio, and the physical release of the EP will be available from French label Lixiviat Records in September.
